Impoliteness vs Youth

Assalamualaikum & Hye :)

For this entries, i would like to share about the
" Impoliteness Among Youth "

The younger generation or " Y Generations " has been exposed and introduced to an advanced technology since kindergarten school. On top of that, the negative culture is constantly involved with modernization.
It seems more and more teenagers are inclined to acted disrespectfully toward adults. The notion that youth should respect to their elders had almost forgotten
Becoming a teenagers brings with a host of new emotions, attitudes and behaviors. As kids age 13 - 19, they often experiment with language to express their boundaries and talk back to other people.

:: Terms of Impoliteness ::

There are various terms that refer in some way to the notion of impoliteness.
 Rude is often used as a synonym of impolite , and of course both these terms have other synonyms.
  • Impolite = disrespectful, distasteful, pushy, disloyal, nosy , ill-mannered, unbecoming, inconsiderate, unladylike, etc..
  • Rude =  arrogant , selfish , obnoxious , cruel , sarcastic , stupid , ignorant , nasty , insensitive , disrespectful , abusive

Same goes to dictionary : [...] impoliteness, communicative strategies designed to attack face, and thereby cause social conflict and disharmony [...] (Culpeper et al. 2003: 1546)

:: Factors Cause ::

Parent-teenager problem
  • The relationships between these two different generations are full of problems and conflicts but parents are the last people who see changes in a growing child. So they still treat them like little kids. They don’t recognize that their children should be treated in another way now and need more freedom and choices.

  • Lack of discipline from parents should be concerned because the early educations are comes from the attitude of the parents-self.

  • Modern families are more focused on their careers and has limit time for teenagers when come home. Some of teenagers are like to stay up with friends and prefer to come home late. So parents are so worried and give punishment when return home.
 Influence of Friends

  • Friends are the closest people who they spend time more than parents. Therefor, they give a big impact to their whole life. Teenagers are like to follow the trends of surrounding. Some group of teenagers will study or attend to any activities if his friends like to do so. Its such a good influence but what we need to be concerned is the negative influence. The teenagers will not depends on their own decision but to his friends.

  • Now more than ever, teens are mimicking the disrespectful and disobedient attitude. They observe others being rude to their friends and parents, so they in turn do the same.
Lack of School Discipline
  • The same attitude is used toward parent are used against at school officials. Teacher should enforce more disciplinary action against these rude teens so as to make them pay for their lack of respect.
 Media
  • We see more and more disrespectful teenagers on TV because it is entertaining to watch. However, this should not be good for our future society's behavior that will impact to our little kids.

  • Some of TV shows portraying bad influence trough scenes of fighting or killing by joining gangsters, bullies and others. For example, a popular film from Japan ' Crows Zero '. By televising such acts, it is promoting these behaviors, hence more of it.

:: Fix the Problem ::

All these are causes of the problems. the teenagers now days will give a big changes and impacts to our futures.
But how can we resolve them?
there are some easy ways to fix this matter :

  1. Communicate. Parents and teenagers should talk and convince each other of their opinions and thoughts then together find a solution for both sides. Go to family counseling. It can be a good way to open up communication between parents and teenagers.

2. Do things together with parents or friends. Find a good way to full up our time with a positive energy . Recognize that we have the power to heal our self.  That healing power flows from the thoughts we think.  Allow positive thoughts to circulate, eliminating stress and boosting our immune system such as camping, sports, community service and others.

*************************************************************************

Teenagers must end this form of verbal abuse because if this behavior persists, our teens will form into a generation filled with insolence.
Be grateful in life. Enjoy our life and studies.
Give more attention our place on what we don’t want in our life, the more energy it absorbs.   Remove our attention from the dis-ease.  Put a good focus and attention on the things in life that make we feel good.

Our CHILDHOOD Life

By Lyn :)

When I was a little girl that could not really understand about what life is about, the only thing that I knew was the memory of `smarties’. Have you heard about this colorful milk chocolate? I do love it very much that was why my beloved father will gave me those smarties every day after coming home from work. When I heard the sound of my father’s motorcycle was coming nearer, I will stood up and ran towards the door.

 I will ask dad “where is my smarties? Did you buy it for me?” I eagerly ask. He was pick up something inside his shirt pocket and gave that colorful packaging to me. Automatically I took that and opened the packaging and I will start counting and classified this milk chocolate according to their colors

  After finishing that particular classified I start to eat them one by one. This was my routine every day except for Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes, father bought me the bigger smarties.

I really LOVE it !!

Cultural Taboos

I am proud to be Malaysian

 People live in peaceful life although as we know we have a lot of ethnics here that provide the variety of culture for us to explore every culture from the major ethnics in Malaysia which are Malay, Chinese and Indian. Together we can share the experiences that we have with others and at the same time we can learn from their culture too. First and foremost, I would like to share a little bit about Malay’s cultural taboos.

According to the old people such as our grandparents are still practice the taboos in everyday life especially when pregnancy. Starting from the beginning of the pregnancy,
grandmother will advise her daughter or grandchildren not to pick up heavy load to prevent exhausted that can affect the unborn baby. Besides, we cannot eat pineapple during the period; the adults believe that fruit risk to the abortion especially during the first two month of pregnancy.

Not only pregnancy persons practice taboos in order to prevent bad luck to their babies, people also said that it is not proper for the girls to sing while taking bath, because usually they will get marriage with old people. Moreover, girls must learn the proper way to pick the rice from rice cooker to transfer it on the plate, to prevent that girl become disrespect to her biological father. The old people also believe the existence of bad spirit at the big trees, that is why they told us not to play around the big trees or during dusk when we were kids.

At Sabah, there are many races that have their own taboos. For example Bugis, they have to burn something like rubbish every Thursday night. It is believed to avoid any bad luck entering the house. As a logic, its actually to prevent the mosquito :)

Another example ,when their daughter get married before the eldest siblings (langkah bendul ) he or she needs to give a ring each of them.

For food taboos, we have been told not to passed the chilies sauce by hand to others. We need to put it on the table then the they will got it by themselves. This is to avoid any fight from each other.

Basically, not all the taboos are nonsense, sometimes some of that is true when we related that with science. We decide what the better is for us especially for Muslims that are compulsory to refer to the religion first before practicing the taboos; only practice things that allowed in Islam.

World Poverty

Every country has the population of poor people that lead to hunger and poverty. I am really thankful to God because I am not in that group. There are several causes why they lived in poverty like lack of education, weak economic and lack of innovation.

Great numbers of poverty-stricken people are illiterate people. In the plenty of countries there is neither elementary school nor secondary school. As a result, illiteracy makes lots of the poor. Illiteracy will create the boundary between them and the other world that result to the out of date. Actually the government and other international sponsorship are cooperating to upgrade the education level.

The second significant problem is weak economics. As usual, weak economics is created by crisis or non-professional authorities of government. The government need to improve the diplomatic relationship with developed countries, precisely to improving international affairs. Rebuilding educational system or illiteracy depends on the response of the second problem, as well.
Not only illiteracy and weak economic can lead to poverty, also, lack of innovation in technology. Government start to go down because of the insufficient innovation in technology in the country. As the steps to prevent boundary, government should try to bring the foreign specialist into the country. At the same time, we can at least try to adapt on how foreigner work.

There are no sorts of problems that cannot be solved. We have to cooperated either government or the citizens and discuss the best way to prevent every single things. Nevertheless, world poverty is the most essential and very earnest. With this reason, we should be sincere and very serious about poverty. Together we preserve that must be preserve in order to build the harmony country.
